1. STILLS: Various of Republican presidential candidate, former President Donald Trump helped off the stage at a campaign event in Butler, Pa., after apparent gunshots
STORYLINE:
Former U.S. President Donald Trump was escorted off the stage Saturday at a rally in Pennsylvania after what sounded like gunshots rang out, with the Secret Service saying he is "safe."
There appeared to be blood on Trump’s right ear and face, television footage showed.
"President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility," his spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.
Before leaving the stage with Secret Service members, Trump raised his fist in the air multiple times.
The Secret Service said in a statement it has "implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available."
