STORYLINE:
The NATO summit commemorating the 75th anniversary of the military alliance officially kicked off Tuesday.
There exists an increased security presence at and around the summit, where leaders discuss pressing global security issues, including those presented in the Secretary General’s annual Climate Change and Security Impact Assessment.
The assessment addresses the impact of climate change on NATO’s operating domains and addresses the climate impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to a NATO press release today.
As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy joins the NATO summit, he will be navigating deep uncertainty over President Joe Biden’s ability to beat his predecessor, NATO Donald Trump, in November to lead the most powerful member of the alliance.
