4. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine:
“First of all, we appreciate the military assistance of the Netherlands and its participation in all armed coalitions. I would also like to express my gratitude for the initiative of the Netherlands, together with its partners, to provide Ukraine with an additional Patriot system. Today, we discussed how this initiative will be implemented and the expected timeframe for the delivery of this system to Ukraine. Let me remind you that two Patriot launchers from the Netherlands have already been defending Ukrainian skies since 2023. This is saving Ukrainian lives, saving Ukrainian infrastructure.”

6. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine:
“Equally important is the Netherlands’ recent decision to purchase weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers. We urge all governments to follow this path, as it not only supports our defense industry but also significantly reduces the time it takes to deliver weapons to our soldiers at the front line.“

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Caspar Veldkamp, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands:
“We will continue to support you in defending against Russia’s aggression, now that we’ve got clearance on the first F-16s, they will be delivered without delay. But the support process isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. It’s a marathon which requires perseverance and dedication at the prospect of a brighter future. The EU and NATO and Netherlands must do all it can. The Netherlands, which you may know, signed a ten-year security agreement with Ukraine as many countries did. We want to look ahead together with you not just towards victory, but towards recovery and reconstruction as well, with the prospect of justice and ensuring accountability for the most serious crimes committed against Ukrainian people.“

STORYLINE:
Newly appointed Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp pledged Saturday that the Netherlands would continue to support Ukraine against Russian forces.

Veldkamp, who was sworn into his post on Tuesday, met his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in Kyiv to discuss providing Ukraine with a new Patriot missile system.

He also said that Amsterdam will deliver a consignment of 24 F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv “without delay”.

"The support process isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. It’s a marathon which requires perseverance and dedication at the prospect of a brighter future. The EU and NATO and Netherlands must do all it can," he added.

Kuleba thanked Veldkamp, and stressed that previous military aid has had an important impact.

“Two Patriot launchers from the Netherlands have already been defending Ukrainian skies since 2023,” he said.

“This is saving Ukrainian lives, saving Ukrainian infrastructure," he added.

He also commended the Netherlands’ decision to purchase Ukrainian weapons, which in turn boosts the country’s defense industry.
