STORYLINE:
Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa began an official visit Peru on Thursday.

Noboa was welcomed in a ceremony at Peru’s Government Palace in Lima where he met with his Peruvian counterpart Dina Boluarte.

This is the second official visit of a foreign president to Peru during Boluarte’s less than two years in office.

The first one, made in 2023 by then-Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso (2021-2023), was very brief and took place in a Peruvian area close to the Ecuadorian border.

According to the authorities of both countries, the visit seeks to strengthen a work plan on 49 issues, including security, energy, infrastructure, connectivity, tourism, mining, and the environment.

Peru and Ecuador share a 1,529-kilometer (950-mile) border, mainly in the Amazon.
