Wildfires spread near the the villages of Pece and Kardhikaq, 270 kilometers (170 miles) south of the capital Tirana. Emergency services responses included the use of a Cougar helicopter to pour water over the affected area. Several fires have broken out in areas in the south this month, causing damage to forests and surrounding areas.
