STORYLINE:
An Israeli airstrike Wednesday afternoon hit close to the main hospital in Gaza’s southern city of Khan Younis, hospital authorities said.
At least seven people were injured in the strike, they said.
The area where the strike hit also includes a school-turned-shelter for displaced people in Khan Younis, according to Associated Press footage.
The strike near Nasser hospital came as Israel’s military intensified its bombardment of the eastern parts of Khan Younis, two days after it ordered the evacuation of an area covering 250,000 people.
Almost 38,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the war erupted in October, following the Hamas attack on southern Israel that killed 1,200 people and where 250 were taken hostage.
