3. SOUNDBITE (English) Mayor John Whitmire, (D) Houston:
“And this mother was a teenage mother; had Jocelyn at 15. They were the best of friends, they grew up together – that’s what is so painful. But we’re celebrating the impact she’s had on each and every one of us. And it won’t be lost. And there will be a commitment on our parts to recognize the happiness that she brought to her family and friends.”

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Mayor John Whitmire, (D) Houston:
“I watched them (police) on the streets of Kuykendall, going every direction, going to retail video. Went to a skate park, a metro park and ride. They were desperate to find the violent offenders that had killed this young lady to get them off the street. Houstonians want to thank HPD (referring to Houston Police Department).”

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Mayor John Whitmire, (D) Houston:
“We’re not going away; we’re going to monitor this case all the way through the criminal justice system. We will monitor that bond. If by some circumstance this judge lowers it, or someone can make a $10 million bond, we will be there in court, if necessary.”

Death may end a life, but it doesn’t end the relationship. And the love you have for your daughter, and the love she has for you in ways that I don’t understand, it carries on.”
12. Wide of casket
13. SOUNDBITE (English) Gabby, Close friend of Jocelyn:

STORYLINE:
A 12-year-old Houston girl who was killed after she disappeared during a walk to a convenience store earlier this month was remembered as funny, smart with a good heart during a funeral service Thursday.
Relatives of Jocelyn Nungaray are remembering her as someone who loved animals and sought to make people laugh.
Nungaray’s funeral service will be followed by a celebration of her life at a furniture store owned by a Houston businessman who is paying for Nungaray’s funeral.
Two Venezuelan men who entered the U.S. illegally have been charged with capital murder in her death.
Speaking before a packed room, Houston Mayor John Whitmire vowed to do what he can to ensure the family gets justice.
“We’re not going away; we’re going to monitor this case all the way through the federal justice system. We will monitor that bond. If by some circumstance this judge lowers it, or someone can make a $10 million bond, we will be there in court, if necessary,” he said.
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick was also in attendance.
