STORYLINE:
Brussels sweltered in 31C (87.8 Fahrenheit) degree weather on as a heatwave gripped parts of Europe on Wednesday.
Tourists were undeterred by the hot temperatures, with many groups seen visiting monuments, sitting in shaded cafes or taking pictures of a waffle display.
Temperatures are forecast to remain high until Thursday before tapering off to normal levels.
