STORYLINE:
Coco Rocha and Lily Cole were among the models adorning the walls, as Iris van Herpen showed her spring/summer 2024 Haute Couture alongside her hanging artworks, in Paris, Monday.
Delicate fabrics and flowing gowns gave the models an ethereal air as they seemed to float above the audience – although, in reality, they each had a special platform keeping them above ground.
The design house is calling them "aerial sculptures" and van Herpen says it’s the perfect marriage between painting, sculpture and textiles.
She was inspired by the rhythm, power and transformation of nature, as well as the artists Kazuo Shiraga, Joan Mitchell and Hieronymus Bosch.
Fan Bingbing and Avril Lavigne turned out to see van Herpen’s artistic endeavour, both wearing sculptural items from the designer.
