Kenya’s president rejects new finance bill | DW News

Kenya’s President William Ruto has rejected a controversial new finance bill that recently sparked violent demonstrations. He refused to send the amended draft law back to parliament, effectively withdrawing it.
Thousands of protesters breached the security barrier outside the parliament building in Nairobi on Tuesday. They were showing their anger at proposed tax hikes at a time when living costs were on the rise. At least 23 people were killed in clashes between police and protesters.

DW correspondent Felix Maringa reports on developments in Kenya.
