STORYLINE:
Demi Moore’s little chihuahua, Pilaf, received her own invitation to the Dior Men Summer 2025 show Friday afternoon, held at Val de Grace in Paris.
Animals—notably, giant cat sculptures on the catwalk—were an important theme of this collection and the show. Dior Homme creative director, Kim Jones, was inspired by the work of South African artist-potter Hylton Nel, who crafts whimsical ceramic animals and other objects.
Jones used Nel’s stylized birds, dogs, and antelopes to embellish a series of black suits, leather shoes, and pastel-colored knitwear.
For those clients allergic to animal motifs, he created perfectly tailored suits in the same soft color palette.
These were classic with a twist: flowing wide-cut trousers, standup collars, matching short pants, intriguing shades of taupe or shimmery olive. Some had a piece of decorative fabric draped around the collar, with ties hanging down, like a fragment of a hoodie.
Footwear included shoes and boots looking vaguely like a cross between clogs and Dr. Martens, with nails holding the round-toed leather uppers in place. Many models wore cloche hats that covered their eyes, trimmed with multicolored beads.
As always, there was much to like here—but the wool pullover with the handwritten message "Dior for my real friends" is sure to be a bestseller for the house’s friends, and maybe even their dogs.
