Italy will be offered the chance to fill a senior role in the next European Commission, according to sources speaking to Bloomberg. This comes as centrist parties look to wrap up a deal on the bloc’s top jobs before a summit later this week. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, whose right-wing group surged in EU elections earlier this month, has previously criticized the appointment process.
Anand Menon, King’s College London Professor of European Politics and Foreign Affairs says Meloni’s European Conservatives and Reformists group is in a strong position. Menon also tells "The Pulse with Francine Lacqua" that "everyone should be concerned" about the political situation in France ahead of the parliamentary election there.
