“(Heat-related) health problems primarily include sunstroke and heat exhaustion, as well as dehydration, that is, the loss of fluids. Sunstroke is among the most serious problems because it involves failure of the body’s thermoregulatory mechanisms due to overheating of the head, back of the head, and it often impacts numerous people. It is characterized by dry skin, increased body temperature, headache, overall weakness and dizziness, and it can result in a coma or even, in some cases, death.”

“What happens is that the blood vessels dilate, heart tries pumping more fresh, cold blood to the brain, but as blood vessels are dilated due to overheating, this can cause oedema and lead to tragic outcomes.”

“Atmospheric pressure changes a lot throughout a day and even young people are impacted, everybody has a headache. Many more young people are experiencing heart problems than before, people in their 50s have heart attacks.”
