During the investigation, the European Commission repeatedly stated that failure to cooperate would face unfavorable rulings and forced companies to provide the above information. After Chinese companies did their best to cooperate with the investigation and provided information, the European Commission still unreasonably accused Chinese companies of not fully cooperating and imposed punitive high tax rates."

"The Ministry of Commerce has legally initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of pork and by-products from the European Union on June 17, 2024. According to WTO rules and China’s anti-dumping regulations, it’s confirmed from our preliminary investigation that the dumping is established and causes damage to domestic industries. Temporary anti-dumping measures can be taken after the preliminary ruling. After the investigation is completed, the Ministry of Commerce will make a final ruling, and anti-dumping duties may be levied if it meets the relevant regulations."

STORYLINE:
China’s Commerce Ministry said that the European Commission requested an "unprecedented" amount of detailed information from Chinese electric vehicle companies during the anti-dumping investigation.
He Yadong, a spokesperson for the Commerce Ministry said during a press briefing on Thursday that the move undermined fair competiton and went against the World Trade Organisation’s rules.
Chinese companies were requested to provide the European Commission with details including raw materials for batteries, production costs, pricing and sales channels, Yadong explained.
The European Union moved to hike tariffs on electric vehicles made in China last Wednesday. EVs are the lastest flash point in a broader trade dispute over Chinese government subsidies and the the country’s burgeoning exports of green technology to the EU.
"The types, scope, and amount of information collected by the European side are unprecedented, far exceeding the requirements of anti-subsidy investigations," Yadong said.
The ministry announced on Monday that it was opening an anti-dumping investigation into pork imports from Europe.
