"After the pandemic, it’s evening out, you know, because we had a height and then it went down again, and now it’s leveling out. But we will see what comes in the future, it’s never possible to really foresee what’s happening to the art market."

"Right now, collectors are hesitant to put their best works on the market because they see that no record prices are broken so frequently as there were two years ago, so they’re holding back on this. It’s just a natural cleaning of the market, where good works are not on offer as frequently because people are hesitant."

27. SOUNDBITE (English) Thaddaeus Ropac, gallerist:
"A certain cooling. I think it’s good for the art market, it’s good for the art scene, you know, any overheating is not very productive. First of all, artists’ careers are pushed too fast, too high. And I think this is maybe a bit of a time of reflecting also. But besides this, it’s like still very active and very robust. So, I wouldn’t say that this is a crisis, far from the crisis. But it is a kind of very nice soft landing from maybe too high expectations."
