STORYLINE:
Police in Argentina dispersed demonstrators gathered in front of the National Congress on Wednesday.
Riot police fired pepper spray at protesters trying to occupy a central avenue in front of the building as the country’s Senate began debating two reform bills by President Javier Milei.
Senators began debating economic, administrative, and tax reforms that are considered key to ensuring the governability of far-right president Javier Milei.
Columns of hundreds of demonstrators from unions, social movements and human rights organizations demanded rejection of the new laws.
