And not just for the United States, but for all those governments sitting around that table yesterday in New York, for all those governments sitting around the table here today in Jordan, take the action that you know is right and that the people expect of you.”

5. SOUNDBITE: (Arabic), Ayman al-Safadi, Jordanian foreign minister:
“As I said, 69 countries and more than 63 UN and international organizations met and came out with this message. This is an international mobilization and an international position, and it must certainly have an impact. But in the end, the greatest responsibility lies with the occupying power. Israel is the occupying power and continues to wage its aggression against Gaza, in clear defiance of the will of the international community and a shameful violation of all resolutions of international legitimacy, including resolutions of the International Court of Justice.”

“We’ve certainly been urging the world to take definitive action against Israel, to impose sanctions against Israel, to hold Israel accountable for violating international law and for violating international humanitarian law, and for, bringing this disaster to the Palestinian people and to the region. And we continue to urge that, and we continue to say that those who commit war crimes should not, should be held accountable. International law must be applied to all, in the same manner. No country is above the law and Israel cannot continue to act with impunity, kill with impunity, destroy with impunity, violate international law with impunity.”

“We will not be dragged into the abyss of a regional conflict that the radicals in Israel wants. We will not let them dictate the agenda because they want to dictate agenda. If you hear (Itamar) Ben-Gvir and (Bezalel Yoel) Smotrich and others in this most radical of Israeli governments in history, they don’t want to end the aggression. They don’t want to recognize the Palestinians right to freedom. They don’t even recognize the Palestinians as human being. They call them human animals. So these are advocates of an agenda of hate, of racism or discrimination, that we cannot allow them to dictate the agenda and they will not allow them to drag us to their turf, because that’s what they want.”
