Brazil orange production hits lowest level in decades due to disease and climate challenges

Orange harvest in Brazil, the world’s largest exporter of orange juice, is likely to be the worst in nearly four decades this year due to extreme weather and an increase of a citrus greening bacteria.

Orange farmer Oscar Simonetti has around 20% of his production affected by greening, a bacteria spread by the citrus psyllid, a tiny mottled brown bug.
