2. SOUNDBITE (English) Joe Biden, US President:
"I want to echo President Macron’s comments welcoming the safe rescue of four hostages that were returned to their families in Israel. We won’t stop working until all the hostages come home and a cease-fire is reached. That is essential to happen."

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Joe Biden, US President:
"I wish we could have done it when we wanted to, six months ago, but we got it done with $61 billion in additional aid to Ukraine. And I commend France and our European allies for their leadership as well. The EU has provided over $107 billion dollars in assistance to Ukraine since the war began. Because we know what happens if Putin succeeds in subjugating Ukraine. You know, you know, Putin won’t stop at Ukraine. It’s not just Ukraine, it is about much more than Ukraine. All of Europe will be threatened. We’re not going to let that happen. The United States is standing strong with Ukraine. We’re standing with our allies and we’re standing with France. We will not, we will not – I’ll say it again – walk away."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Joe Biden, US President:
"Today, I proudly stand with France and support freedom and democracy around the world. That’s what this spectacular week is all about. Mr President, there’s much more we had the chance to talk about. We’re going to continue to talk. You’ve become a good friend, and I really appreciate your cooperation and your insights. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

STORYLINE:
US President Joe Biden on Saturday welcomed the rescue of four hostages that were held by Hamas in Gaza.
Earlier in the day, Israel carried out its largest hostage rescue operation since the war with Hamas began on Oct. 7.
The military said four hostages were freed and they are well.
"We won’t stop working until all the hostages come home and a ceasefire is reached. That is essential to happen," Biden said at a joint briefing with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
Biden was being feted by Macron with a state visit this weekend in Paris.
The two allies aim to show off their partnership on global security issues and move past trade tensions.
Later, Macron will host a dinner at the palace for Biden and his wife, Jill.
Both leaders this week have used D-Day 80th anniversary events in France to underscore the urgent need to support Ukraine’s fight against Russia’s invasion.
"Putin won’t stop at Ukraine. It’s not just Ukraine, it is about much more than Ukraine. All of Europe will be threatened. We’re not going to let that happen. The United States is standing strong with Ukraine," Biden said.
