STORYLINE:
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol emphasized the importance of Africa’s role in minerals supply and expressed hope of strengthening mineral ties,

Yoon and African leaders attended the business summit on Wednesday, the last day of the two-day-long South Korea-Africa Summit.

In his key note speech, Yoon highlighted Africa’s role in the face of supply chain risk caused by geopolitical crisis.

"I hope to establish key minerals partnership with African nations and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in resources through key minerals security partnership between the countries that share the same values," said Yoon.

Representatives from 48 African nations, including 25 heads of state, attended South Korea’s two-day summit, where talks focused on trade and investment.

Trade with African nations currently accounts for less than 2% of South Korea’s total imports and exports.
