EU foreign policy head Josep Borrell has called for an independent investigation into an Israeli air strike on a school that was sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza. At least 37 people were killed and dozens more injured in the attack. Borrell wrote on X that "violence and suffering are still the only reality for hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians." The Israeli military has defended the strike as a "precise strike" on members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad that were involved in the October 7th attacks. They say they were hiding out in the UN-run school.
