The Veterans Justice Outreach Program is a prevention-focused effort that helps identify Veterans in the justice system and facilitate access to VA services at the earliest possible point.
The program uses a proactive and collaborative approach to support justice-involved Veterans by addressing the root causes of their involvement and providing the necessary resources.
VA has nearly 400 outreach specialists nationwide who may be able to help you. These specialists provide outreach, assessment, and case management to help prevent homelessness and criminalization due to unmet mental health needs.
They are located at every VA medical center in the country and work with partners in the local justice system to help Veterans.
As of 2020, we have worked with almost 140,000 justice-involved Veterans, 7.4% of whom were women.
