"In regard to the song in question, which you have asked, the court order is an injunction against four specified acts, in relation to the song in question. We have noted that there is no link shown on any local platform relating to the song, and also Google search doesn’t show any link to the song in question either. We will continue to monitor the situation to see whether there is any non-compliance with the court order, if we notice such instances, then we will notify the platform on the contents of the court order."

STORYLINE:
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee on Tuesday said that local online platforms had removed links to a popular protest song following a government campaign, but that monitoring continues.

The song "Glory to Hong Kong" is popular, but the government doesn’t like it and went to court to make its point.

After the initial failure, the Hong Kong Justice Department got an appeal court to grant an injunction against the use of the song.

The song used to be sung by thousands of Hong Kong people in streets and shopping centres and other gatherings. It was created in 2019 after the government tried to impose an unpopular extradition law in Hong Kong.

In 2020, China’s Communist Party created a new national security law for Hong Kong, which has resulted in the criminalisation of words, and now, a song.
