Tornado Obliterates Wind Turbines

Window turbines in Iowa, some 250-feet tall, were snapped like matchsticks by a devastating tornado. One turbine caught fire when it hit the ground, and the thick, black, belching smoke could be seen for miles. The power-generating devices cost $2 million a piece. The nearby town of Greenfield took a direct hit, and the damage was almost unimaginable. Authorities reported fatalities from the severe weather.
