STORYLINE:
British director Andrea Arnold hit the Cannes red carpet Thursday to premiere her in competition movie "Bird," alongside the film’s stars Barry Keoghan, Franz Ragowski, Nykiya Adams, Jasmine Jobson and Carlos O’Donnell.
The film follows a single parent family living in a squat in north Kent, in the south east of England.
Keoghan plays dad Bug, who doesn’t have much time for his kids; Rogowski plays son Bird, and Nykiya Adams makes her feature debut as 12-year old Bailey – who seeks adventure and attention away from her family.
Arnold has won the festival competition’s Jury Prize three times, including with her first two features, "Red Road" in 2006 and "Fish Tank" (which tied with "Thirst") in 2009. She won the prize again in 2016 with "American Honey,."
Arnold was also nominated for documentary prize L’Œil d’Or (the Golden Eye) for "Cow" in 2021.
