3. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Lin Jian, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
“The Philippines’ attitude just proves that they lack confidence in the face of facts and evidence and have reached the point where they are frustrated and have no bottom line. China solemnly demands that the Philippines ensures that Chinese diplomats can perform their duties, stops infringement and provocation, and does not deny the facts, act indiscreetly or hurt itself by its own actions.”

5. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Lin Jian, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
“For a long time, the U.S. side has used the so-called national security risk as a reason to suppress Chinese enterprises but has never been able to produce the so-called evidence. We urge the U.S. side to stop overstretching the concept of national security, stop politicizing, instrumentalizing and weaponizing economic, trade and sci-tech issues and stop abusing all kinds of sanctions lists to suppress Chinese enterprises unreasonably. China will continue to take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.”

7. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Lin Jian, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
“We seriously urge the Japanese side to abide by the relevant principles and spirit of the four China-Japan political documents, to demonstrate its commitment to the one-China principle through practical actions, refrain from conniving with or supporting the separatist forces of Taiwan independence in any form, and earnestly safeguard peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, rather than the other way around. Also, we would like to warn the DPP authorities that they will never succeed in colluding with external forces in their provocative pursuit of independence, and that selling out the interests of the country and the nation will surely be held accountable by history.”

“China strongly condemns the attack on Jordan’s humanitarian aid convoy, which violates international law and international humanitarian law. As the Palestinian-Israeli conflict continues on, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has become extremely grave. STORYLINE:
China on Friday urged the Philippines to ensure its diplomats’ rights to perform their duties after a Filipino official warned of expelling Chinese diplomats for an alleged leak of a phone conversation with a Filipino admiral over the handling of disputed rifts in the South China Sea.
In a statement released earlier in the day, Philippine National Security Advisor Eduardo Ano lambasted the acts of the Chinese Embassy in Manila, saying it violated the country’s law on anti-wiretapping and constituted a serious breach of diplomatic protocols.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian pushed back against the criticism at a daily news briefing and said the Philippines’ response shows its lack of confidence.
China urged the Philippines to “stop infringement and provocation" and asked the country to "not deny the facts, act indiscreetly or hurt itself by its own actions,” Lin said.
Lin also slammed the U.S. inclusion of 37 Chinese entities to a trade blacklist and urged the U.S. to stop “abusing” sanctions against Chinese companies.
