Marines, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen Visit Miami VA During Fleet Week

On May 8, 2024, the Miami VA had the distinct honor of hosting leaders and about 100 active duty service members from the U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard as part of U.S. Navy Fleet Week. During the day, service members met with Veterans and their loved ones, completed volunteer projects, interacted with VA staff, and learned about the VA health care benefits waiting for them when they leave military service. Military leaders in attendance included the Honorable Franklin Parker, Assistant Secretary of the Navy Manpower and Reserve Affairs, and U.S. Coast Guard Rear Adm. Douglas Schofield, Commander, 7th Coast Guard District. Both men met with Miami VA leadership and discussed ways to strengthen partnerships between the agencies. Miami Dolphins cheerleaders and the Miami Heat mascot, Burnie, also participated in the festivities. Overall, it was a great day for everyone involved! Happy Fleet Week 2024!
