“Everything here was just debris, trees down. There was a tree that went down over the street over here. The neighbors all lost windows. My son’s car, the windshield shattered. It was gone. And so, a lot of damage and chaos. It was, it was sad. A lot of people were in the streets crying and scared. So, it was pretty scary and we just didn’t have any warning at all. There was just zero warning that it was going to hit.”

“Some people were cleaning up yesterday. We had a small window where it wasn’t raining. They were out cleaning and picking up debris, but it’s been raining pretty much since then, so we’re just left with the mess till the rain stops.”

STORYLINE:
Residents of Rock Hill, South Carolina, weighed the damage Sunday caused by a storm that swept the state on Saturday.

The storm unrooted trees and hail damaged houses and cars. ““Everything here was just debris, trees down," Allison Soderberg said during an interview outside of her home. "The neighbors all lost windows. My son’s car, the windshield shattered.”

In a post by the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg, SC, on the social media platform X, the agency warned Rock Hill residents of wind gusts up to 70mph and two inch sized hail during the storm.
