3. SOUNDBITE (English) Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian Foreign Minister:
"The future of Europe is being decided in Ukraine, the future of the Middle East is being decided in Israel and the future of the world order is being decided in both these places. The West has the capacity to be efficient in all crises and this must be clear, it has the capacity, military capacity, financial capacity. But it has to provide Ukraine with all necessary resources as soon as possible to save Europe from a larger war. And this was the main topic of my conversations and we identified specific steps which Western partners will make to help Ukraine under these circumstances. I think the narrative that the West has to choose between supporting Israel or Ukraine is wrong because these are two theaters of the same war. Thank you."

STORYLINE:
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Friday “the future of Europe is being decided in Ukraine” as he walked past reporters while attending a Group of Seven (G7) Foreign Ministers gathering on the Italian island of Capri on Friday.

Kuleba continued by stating, "the future of the Middle East is being decided in Israel and the future of the world order is being decided in both these places."

And suggested "the West has the capacity to be efficient in all crises" but “it has to provide Ukraine with all necessary resources as soon as possible to save Europe from a larger war."

Foreign ministers from leading industrialized nations been meeting on Capri to discuss both the escalating conflict in the Middle East and further military aid for Ukraine.

On Thursday, top NATO and EU officials urged G7 ministers to take quick, concrete steps to provide more air defense systems and artillery to Ukraine.

Reports early Friday of an Israeli attack on Iran overshadowed the morning session at the G7 which was meant to be dedicated to tensions in the Indo-Pacific.

Israel has vowed to respond to Iran’s unprecedented weekend attack, leaving the region bracing for further escalation after months of fighting in Gaza.
