“I’m going to continue living my life the way I lived it in the prison and during this transition. It’s become very important to me to stay connected with family and friends. I look to them for support and advice all the time. And I’ll just keep being the man I’ve been trying to become – trying to become a better man than when I was that kid. I know there’s … my parents never locked their doors before this happened and they started … and it’s … So, I don’t … I don’t know, I want to … if I get a chance I will try to earn that trust again and just be transparent with the people that I work with, the communities that I go to, my situation. I would be willing to have dialogues with people."

STORYLINE:
A man who’s served more than half of his life in prison for his role in the 2001 stabbing deaths of two married Dartmouth College professors has been granted parole.
James Parker was 16 when he was part of a conspiracy with his best friend that resulted in the deaths of Half and Susanne Zantop in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Prosecutors say Parker and his friend, who was 17 at the time, hatched a plan to rob and kill people before fleeing overseas.
The other man, Robert Tulloch, remains in prison.
He told the parole board that he’s taken many steps to rehabilitate himself, including earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in prison.
