1. SOUNDBITE (English) Jay Hernandez and Cheech Marin, Actors – on being Chicano:
Jay Hernandez: “When you got to set, I think it was the first day we had a really long discussion, which I was like really grateful for because I’m such a fan. But I was asking about the term Chicano and what that meant, because to me it felt sort of antiquated. But as a result of the conversation, I’m like, I refer to myself now. I was like, Chicano. Yeah.”
Cheech Marin: “Thank you, Lord. You heard my prayers.”
Jay Hernandez: “But it is like trying to understand identity in place. And I think that’s one of the, one of the sort of central themes of the film and why it’s so important.”
