“The relevant document of Japan continues to adhere to the hackneyed accusations against China, hyping the so-called China threat and unwarrantedly interfering in China’s internal affairs. China firmly opposes this. We urge Japan to correct its erroneous practices, stop provocation and instigating bloc confrontation, and genuinely uphold the strategic and mutually beneficial relationship as a guiding principle for the development of bilateral ties, making unremitting efforts towards the goal of building a constructive and stable China-Japan relationship that meets the requirements of the new era.”

“China and Germany are concerned about the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the escalating risks in the region. China and Germany jointly call for ensuring unimpeded and sustainable humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip, supporting the UN and its Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East in coordinating humanitarian relief efforts, implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2728 and the two-state solution, which we believe is the only way towards lasting security and peace between Israelis and Palestinians.”

9. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Lin Jian, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
“During the call, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China strongly condemns and firmly opposes the attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, regarding it as a serious violation of international law and unacceptable. China has noted Iran’s statement that its action taken was limited and was an act of self-defense in response to the attack against the Iranian consulate in Syria. China appreciates Iran’s stress on not targeting regional and neighboring countries as well as its reiteration on continuously pursuing a good-neighborly and friendly policy and believes that Iran can handle the situation well and spare the region further turmoil while safeguarding its own sovereignty and dignity.”

STORYLINE:
China on Tuesday urged Japan to “genuinely uphold the strategic and mutually beneficial relationship” as the guidance to develop China-Japan ties after Japan put back the term in its 2024 Diplomatic Bluebook for the first time in five years.
Despite reusing the wording last seen in the 2019 report, Japan expressed "serious concerns" over China’s "attempts to unilaterally alter the status quo" and "a series of dangerous acts" in the South China Sea in the report issued on Tuesday.
At a daily news briefing in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian accused Japan of “hackneyed accusations against China, hyping the so-called China threat and unwarrantedly interfering in China’s internal affairs.”
