AN/TWQ-1 Avenger in Action – Short-Range Air Defense System

U.S. Army crews, 10th Army Air Missile Defense Command, conduct an air defense training with the Latvian and the Lithuanian military in Jurmalciems, Latvia, on June 10th, 2020.

The Avenger Air Defense System, designated AN/TWQ-1 under the Joint Electronics Type Designation System, is an American self-propelled surface-to-air missile system which provides mobile, short-range air defense protection for ground units against aerial targets such as cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, low-flying fixed-wing aircraft, and helicopters.
