STORYLINE:
Soldiers of the 13th of National Guard Khartia Brigade reacted to U.S. President Trump’s announcement to lift a suspension of military aid for Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s invasion.
"Motzart," an artillery battery commander of the Khartia Brigade, said "America is a strategic partner of Ukraine and it is very important to support each other in such times."
The Khartia Brigade was created in Kharkiv and successfully defended the city from two Russian offensives in 2022.
The situation in the Kharkiv region is stable, said "Motzart," before adding that his soldiers are pushing forward, "taking meter by meter day after day."
For "Dobryi," a Howitzer commander in the same brigade, the prospect of a ceasefire means that there is a lot to be done to "save the positions we [Ukrainians] have now."
Earlier in the week, the U.S. Trump administration lifted its suspension of military aid and intelligence sharing for Ukraine after Kyiv signaled in Jeddah that it was open to a 30-day ceasefire in the war with Russia, pending Moscow’s agreement.
Zelenskyy said the 30-day ceasefire would allow the sides “to fully prepare a step-by-step plan for ending the war, including security guarantees for Ukraine.”
