"At first it’s very unserious, like it’s ridiculous. But his continued efforts in claiming it, it’s quite worrying. But ultimately we believe in like NATO because we’re part of Denmark. So we don’t believe there’s necessarily serious danger of America taking Greenland by force. But it’s worrying that he’s focusing so much on it."

"I want independence in the long run and recent events have hurried that process personally. But it’s a question of how we can do it responsibly for our society and our people and so that we’re not taken advantage of from, like, America or the United States or Denmark, because I believe we need to have certain cooporations with a lot of countries."

"It’s so weird to defend that our country is our country because it’s always been our country and we’re just getting our culture back because of colonialism. We’re still feeling those effects. So I really appreciate that we’re taking back our culture and traditions and our language as well. And I think it’s, there’s a lot of momentum getting stronger and building, which I’m happy to be a part of, to get that independence eventually and have our own identity as a people. And I think we can take care of our own country as well as we’ve done before."

STORYLINE:
Being half Danish, Cebastian Rosing always thought he would one day move to Denmark.
Instead, the 35-year-old decided to stay in Nuuk, in Greenland, where he sees growing opportunities for tourism.
Rosing said he has seen an uptick in tourist numbers in Nuuk since an international airport opened in November.
He recently started working for Nuuk Water Taxi, which provides tailored boat trips for tourists in Nuuk Fjord as well as provides transport for locals.
Greenland is having a moment in the international spotlight following U.S. President Donald Trump’s continued expression of interest in the mineral-rich Arctic territory.
Amid concerns about foreign interference and demands that Greenlanders must control their own destiny, the island’s prime minister called an early parliamentary election for Tuesday.
