Alawite families fleeing Syria’s deadly violence have crossed into Lebanon, assisted by locals from nearby villages. Over 350 families have escaped, with the UN reporting the massacre of entire families. Violence erupted after the Syrian government blamed Assad loyalists for the attacks, which targeted the Alawite minority in Syria’s coastal region
