President Trump had promised a radical reset on immigration while campaigning for the job he now holds… – and he delivered. Trump revived 27 immigration policies he implemented during his first term and added seven new ones in what many called a “blitz’ of executive orders on day one in the oval office, virtually closing the southern border of the US and making it very hard if not nearly impossible to ask for political asylum.
Already before Trump’s Inauguration just about five weeks ago, private militia style groups had offered themselves up to help the Trump administration and various federal authorities with protecting the border, with shutting it down and with going after (illegal) immigrants. They have renewed that offer lately.
Critics of the US’ new “security posture” at the border with Mexico are frustrated with the ever-increasing military, law enforcement and private militia groups presence in their communities.
