"This period we pray in a special way for our Pope Francis, that God in his infinite mercy and also forgive him whatever sin he has committed, and also live in life, and also grant him healing. Ash also represent or make us to come to mind that we are finite human being, we are mortals, and God is infinite, God is everything. So it’s a period also, we have to humble ourselves recognizing that fact; like the Pope is sick, so no matter his position he is sick, that shows human limitation."

STORYLINE:
As Catholics worldwide marked the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday, worshippers across Nigeria offered prayers for the health of Pope Francis, who has been facing recent health challenges.
Reverend Father Boniface Ugwo, the Parish head of the St. Francis Catholic church in Lagos, said this Lent was a fitting time to "pray in a special way for our Pope Francis".
On Ash Wednesday, observant Catholics receive a sign of the cross in ashes on their foreheads, a gesture that underscores human mortality.
The fact of the Pope’s hospitalization, added Reverend Father Boniface Ugwo, "shows human limitation."
The 88-year-old Pontiff has been dealing with health concerns, including respiratory issues, prompting an outpouring of support from Catholic communities worldwide.
In its latest update on Wednesday, the Vatican said that the pope rested well overnight, waking up shortly after 8 a.m. Pope Francis remained in stable condition, with a guarded prognosis, meaning he was not out of danger. He resumed supplemental oxygen delivered by a nasal tube in the morning, alternating from a ventilation mask at night as doctors seek to ease his breathing for a deeper rest.
Francis’ hospitalization began on Feb. 14 and is the longest of his 12-year papacy.
