Thousands of flights will be halted across Germany today as workers strike at 13 airports.

The 24 hour strike includes major hubs Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin. It comes a day after hundreds of flights were cancelled at Hamburg airport when ground handlers walked off the job there. The trade union Verdi has called on public service workers, ground staff and aviation security personnel to stop working in disputes over pay.
