China says it opposes the United States’ latest threat to impose an additional ten percent duty on Chinese imports. This is after fresh tariffs of the same amount were levied last month. US President Donald Trump has alleged that the drug fentanyl is still entering the United States from China at unacceptable levels. Beijing has rejected the accusations, maintaining that it has strict controls on narcotics, and vowed to retaliate if it faces new tariffs.
