"There are so many bands and so many marching groups that really put so much time into preparing for this season. We want to make sure that they have a good time and that they are safe and all of us are part of that to make sure that that happens. You know simple rules to follow; you don’t want to walk across the bands, that’s been said. You don’t want to walk in between the floats. That’s very important. Have a good time, that’s the most important thing but in the meantime, watch all the kids. Again, even if they’re not your children, they’re everyone’s children at Mardi Gras."

STORYLINE:
Following the deadly January 1st attack on Bourbon Street NOLA Public Schools gives an update on parade safety during Mardi Gras season.
The organization is urging parade-goers to stay behind barricades, don’t cross the street in between bands and do not throw anything at band members.
NOLA Public Schools’ Superintendent, Fateama Fulmore says safety is the top priority for band members adding "security measures were heightened" for this years Carnival.
Local high school bands and dance teams march for miles in various parades throughout the city and create a unique atmosphere for all to celebrate in.
Numerous parades continue to take place in the New Orleans area leading up to the city’s big celebration, Mardi Gras, better know as Fat Tuesday.
