Our nation’s oldest sitting mayor has died. Vito Perillo was elected as New Jersey’s Tinton Falls mayor when he was 93 years old. He wore out two pair of shoes campaigning at the time in 2017. Before becoming mayor, Perillo served in the Navy during World War II. In a statement the borough administrator said, "Perillo led with wisdom, kindness, and a deep sense of duty. His leadership left a lasting impression, and his legacy of service will be remembered for generations to come.”
