Breathing new life into the German economy will be a focal point of coalition talks, after voters said it was one of their top issues. High costs and growing uncertainty have wracked the country since the beginning of the war in Ukraine in 2022. Europe’s largest economy has shrunk over the past two years, and job losses are mounting. Business groups are pushing for less bureaucracy and more competitive energy and labor costs.
