2. SOUNDBITE (English) Dean Edwards, comedian, former "Saturday Night Live" cast member:
"I mean, this is this is an emotional, emotional day. Not only am I surrounded by, you know, fellow cast members and fellow hosts, but I think this sort of brings it all to a head and lets us realize how big the show has been, how impactful the show has been for all of us and also on culture. You know, I mean, ‘SNL’ is lexicon. ‘SNL’ is synonymous with laughter as Xerox is to copying. You know, and so I think I’m proud to be part of it. You know, I think there have only been — there have been less than 170 cast members in the history of the show. And, you know, even a small percent, maybe 10% of that are people with my skin tone. You know, So I’m proud to be in that number."
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Ron Riggle, actor, former "Saturday Night Live" cast member:
"I’m surrounded by all my comedy heroes, past, present and future. So it’s it’s a special night. And I get to tell people that I’ve never met, but I’ve always admired how much I appreciate them tonight. So I’m actually excited about that."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Joe Piscopo, actor, former "Saturday Night Live" cast member – on his famous Frank Sinatra impression:
"I did the Frank Sinatra impression at the Improvization Comedy Club right down the road here. And then when I was on (‘SNL’) with Dick Ebersol, the producer, and with Jean Doumanian, my producers, they said, ‘You’ve got to d o the Frank Sinatra.’ I was so scared, man, right? I was like, (turns to his daughter Olivia) Your grandpa. They were the same age, same generation, the greatest generation. So I wrote Mr. Sinatra a note. ‘If you don’t like it, I will cease and desist immediately, sir’. And you know what? I go like this. It worked out OK."
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Anthony Michael Hall, actor, former "Saturday Night Live" cast member:
"It’s 40 years that I was in season 11, and it’s just an honor to be a part of this, man. It was incredible. I grew up watching the 70s on the original cast, you know, watching my heroes like (George) Carlin and Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy. You know, as a senior in high school to join the cast was an amazing thing. I mean, I remember getting the call from Lorne and I just flipped out. I was coming off the John Hughes films. I actually didn’t have to audition. It was just a real gift. And I learned so much that year. You know, working here at 30 Rock is incredible."
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Jane Curtin, actor, original "Saturday Night Live" cast member – on how she feels to be at the 50th anniversary:
"Pretty damn great. I mean, it’s nice to be a part of something that has lasted for so long. It’s nice to be part of the group that established what it became. It’s all nice. It’s very nice."

STORYLINE:
Past and present stars of "Saturday Night Live, hosts and musical guests attended Sunday’s 50th anniversary celebration of the sketch comedy show.
It premiered Oct. 11, 1975, with an original cast that included John Belushi, Chevy Chase and Gilda Radner.
"SNL" has become appointment television over the years as the show has skewered presidents, politics and pop culture and been a platform for the biggest musical stars of the moment.
