Ukraine rejected an initial US bid to take ownership of around 50% of the country’s minerals. Many of Ukraine’s natural resources are located in territories currently occupied by Russian forces. The Ukrainian government expects security guarantees from the US in its fight against Russia’s full-scale invasion.
