STORYLINE:
Several hundred people gathered in Munich on Saturday to protest against the security conference being hosted in the city.
World leaders and officials have been gathering in Germany for the Munich Security Conference, with the war in Ukraine one of the key items on the agenda.
"It would be so important for German politics to turn to negotiations instead of further shooting," Mark Ellman, the main speaker for the “Munich Alliance for Peace” said as he addressed the gathering down the road from where the conference was taking place.
"Over 1 million dead in the Ukraine war, a Gaza Strip which has become uninhabitable by now… and global warming rising more than 1.5 degrees. These are all essential reasons to finally stop the politics of rearmament and escalation of the NATO countries," he added
Protesters later marched past the venue where the security conference was taking place in a long arc through downtown Munich.
