Heineken NV shares surged after the brewer announced a buyback and reported strong beer sales including in Brazil and Mexico, helping the company gain ground on rivals in more than half of its key markets. Shares of Heineken, dragged down by more than a quarter over the past year through Tuesday’s close, rose as much as 13% in early trading in Amsterdam — the most on an intraday basis since 2008. Other brewers rose on the back of the results, with Anheuser-Busch InBev up as much as 5.2% and Carlsberg up 4.7%. Heineken Dolf van den Brink outlines the company’s plans for the upcoming year.
