“These two cars come from a very famous cars collector and who would take care a lot about his cars. This car (the Ferrari Tipo 555) has been driven by Mr (Mike) Hawthorn (first-ever British racing driver to win the Formula One World Championship) and Mr (Giuseppe ‘Nino’) Farina (Italian racing driver, who competed in Formula One from 1950 to 1956) in the mid-fifties. It’s a piece of art with a very important legacy.”

STORYLINE:
Car enthusiasts are visiting the Grand Palais in Paris to view around 100 vintage and classic cars on display at the Grand ahead of a major auction on Thursday 6th February 2025.

Among the highlights presented by Bonhams auction house is this cream Packard Twelve 14th series convertible from 1936, a glimpse into pre-war luxury design.

Bonhams France specialist Gabriel Rapetti says there are some real treasures amongst the auction lots.
“The cars come from all around the world. We have some very important collection from Spain with, for instance, the Ferrari 166 MM and the Ferrari 555. You know, now the market is global, and cars come from all around the world on auction.”

Among the most noteworthy vehicles is a 1950 Ferrari 166 MM Touring Barchetta, alongside a Ferrari Tipo 555 ‘Super Squalo’ Formula 1 car from 1954-1955.

Both are expected to sell for between 4 and 6 million euros.
