Bald Eagle Population Comes Back From Brink of Extinction

The American bald eagle is making a comeback. The birds of prey had been headed towards extinction, but conservation efforts and rescues have been successful in restoring the species. One estimate puts the U.S. population of eagles at over 300,000.The Turtle Back Zoo in New Jersey, a state that has taken the bald eagle off the endangered list, has a success story in this resident, named Freedom.
