"The vast majority of these young people are innocent, they were not participating in any violent act. Some were exercising their right to demonstrate in a peaceful manner, and some, the fewest, may have committed some acts of vandalism such as destroying political propaganda but they are being accused of terrorism for petty crimes or in some cases not even crimes or misdemeanors at all. These young people have been deprived of their freedom for 6 months in undignified conditions. They were held incommunicado during the first days. Some of them were mistreated and tortured."

"I have heard the testimonies. I have read the testimonies. I have met torture survivors. And they take me there. That’s when I said, well… that’s when I entrusted myself to God. I said: ‘Well, God take care of my life, because it doesn’t depend on me anymore. That’s when I felt fear."

“Nobody gets anything back. One or the other recovered his vehicle, his motorcycle. But most of us have not recovered anything. They instilled fear. They instilled the idea of no longer participating politically in anything, which does great damage to any society that wants progress and development in any country. Because if we were already a country that was far away from politics, where we have people, instead of citizens, now the situation is going to be even worse."

"You say terrorism, those were the charges brought against these boys, the first one: terrorism. And what are you doing when you stand up and terrorize people on camera? Or when you send these people (security forces) to carry out terrorism. Because just as I experienced it, so did many neighbours who were scared and didn’t let children go out all day, at night they didn’t go out to skate, to run, they didn’t go out because they were afraid. That is terrorism. That is terrorism."

"Because it is a terror, a fear that one has in one’s veins. Even your bones tremble when you see that they ask for your ID card, that they can grab your phone and just because you have a flag on your phone they can take you to jail. That is horrible."
